and watch the skyline fills with masts.
You rebuke the winds that knock into me —
two ships slowing as they pass.

You tell me I’m your savior
but I’m an amalgam of decay.
You say these can still go together
like snowfall in the middle of May.

You’re a revelation for some tired soul like me,
brought forth by divination and you were forged by Byzantines.

Now we pine for distant islands
and pray to a life no longer there.
We preach from behind a splintered pulpit
to a huddled congregation of air.

You were the consummation of life torn at the seams.
And we sink in self-corrosion like the fall of Byzantine.

All alone inside the wind, finding solace in our dreams.
Building beacons for salvation but we’re enveloped by the Halmahera Sea.
